Damn Pete! You just reminded me of when I used to stick my house speakers in the trunk of my Monte Carlo and go cruise Cooper when I was in high school! Those things would get soooo loud! No really, it's cool to have something like that you can set up when you go camping and such. When I get this injection problem figured out on my Pete 2.0 wagon, I might have to add a set of speakers in the back as well, just for fun's sake. And it would add that extra something at the drive in, too! When are we all having a local meet anyway?! Edited by bullitt210, Oct 5 2009, 08:11 PM.

Doing What I Want for a Long Time, AND nothing better to do

Yeah Chris, gotta have tunes, sometimes more than a Volvo! I may put them to use this weekend, going to the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival and camp at the National forest. Last time I had the speak's going most of the time I was at camp. I thought about having a second annual TVC mini-meet for Thanksgiving at my house. Turkey, mashed potatoes, & gravy! |

Mmmm. Turkey. I missed it last year, but if you did it again, I would make every effort to make it this time! |

Haven't posted in a while on the Dog mobile, since last fall after the accident, but have scored a few parts at the P&P this last month. From a well kept '93 Classic, a perfect hood & fender, although dark blue metallic, should be fitting to drive around for a while in two-tone color combination: ![]() I'll be stripping down the nose and putting the parts on over the next two weeks. Also did a few other things, I did the ICU timing advance mod grounding pins 18 & 19and made some measurements of what it does, and looks like my base timing went to 14 deg BTDC from 12, and the advance went fro 35 deg to 38 deg and arrived there at 3400 rpm instead of 4000 rpm. Overall, I get better top end acceleration, is much smoother on the highway, and has a bit more low rpm grunt. I am getting a bit better mileage now, about 1-1.5 mpg, 25.5 around town, now 27 mpg. Also the engine seems to like premimum gas more, where it didn't seem to make a difference before, which makes sense. I like this mod. And...........FIXED the *!$?!! A/C!! Again. During my 5000 mile trip to NY/CT/FLA over Christmas, one of the hoses cracked from stress and leaked out all the refridgerant. I had looked long and far for a good condition upper A/C hose, which is unique to the '91. I got a hose from a '93 which I found has the wrong fittings on the accumulator end, so I returned that and wandered back to the P&P and found a '91 that had gotten there as Cash for Clunkers car, shame it was in pretty good shape. I put the hose in this past week, but don't have the $$ to pay someone to evacuate & charge it, and couldn't find a pump I could borrow, so I improvised and found a tool in my seldom used tool box, the MITY VAC! ![]() This worked great, and was able to pump the system down to 22 in of Hg in less than 10 min. It held 22 in Hg vacuum for 3hrs. ![]() I purged/pumped three cycles to remove all the water vapor, and added the R134. Last year I borrowed an elec vacuum pump, and it couldn't pump down better than 18 in Hg in 1/2 hr. This was far easier, although I should build a manifold so I can add the R134 to the evacuated system as I vent, so no fresh air can enter. The a/c blows cold now, and can reach 42 deg in 5 min of running, yesterday when it was 100 degrees in the heat of the afternoon, it was 66 degrees in the car, Yeah! Ozzie liked it. |

Something I've always wanted to do on a 140/240: Improve the inmterior lighting. As many of you may realize, the 240 interior lights lack illumination intensity, and lack coverage in the passenger compartment. Even if you've put in a 10w bulb not 5w, it still is poor. Fixed. I grabbed two rear passenger lights from a 960. They are a small Halogen lamps with a nice small footprint and magnifier lens. ![]() and made a bracket from sheet metal. The piece of metal is a construction strap used to join 2 x 4's. $0.70 each at Home Depot ![]() I mounted the bracket where the grab handle mounts above the front door. The pic shows it mounted in the front position (for better pic), but I mounted it in the rear position. It's easy tpo pull the headliner back, only need to remove the sun visor. ![]() I connected the positve wire to the stock overhead light, and ground on one of the grab handle screws. This makes the light power always on. I had wanted to have the lights go on when the doors open, but since the switch is not two way, like the stock light, thought it best to have the extra light switched only. I suppose you could use another stock 240 light, and have 2-way opertion, but it wouldn't be as bright. ![]() ![]() Once the bracket and headliner was in place, made a small 'X' in the headliner material, pulled the wires through, connected and snapped the ligh in place. This makes for a nice map light, and has plenty of illumination to cover the rear passenger too.

The work on Ozzie's car is moving along (finally!) Since the accident last summer the car has been working fine, but in a banged up condition I just couldn't stand to see. Given my progress, it'll get finished up next week, trim molding clips are on order. Paint will have to wait, it'll staqy Dk blue on blue for a while.![]() ![]() ![]()

Finaly got it finished. Maybe leave the car two-tone for a while? Paint the fender light blue, paint the tailgate & roof dark blue? Also undecided whether or not to put the '93 fender trim on the other 3 fenders, for now, I removed it. ![]() ![]() Also prepping the car for another road trip to the East Coast in end of July/August. Unfortunately a death in the family and my Dad's in poor health. The car is now at 304k miles, what's another 3500 miles? |
