Well, a decent crowd showed up to eat Pete's food! Burgers, chicken, hot dogs sausage and Mike and Chris's favorite beer, Dinkle. If you ever need any thing from Willie Wonka or Bullitt210...just buy 'em a case of that stuff...they LOVE it!! Just kidding!! Here's some meh pics at Pete's house...I'm sure Pete was appreciative of all our supervision of getting his engine pulled!!! We watched him from all angles!! Then off to Texas Motor Speedway...I hope someone got somepics there because I sure didn't...

SHHHHH!!!

Thanks for hosting Pete!

All in all it turned out to be great, weather was good and we had a good turn out.

We'll have to do the Speedway thing again in the fall, hopefully with even more Volvos.

I'll have my pics up tonight or tomorrow.

Nick

Doing What I Want for a Long Time, AND nothing better to do
Great meet turn-out!
Thanks for all you guys that showed to eat my food and drink my beer. (Just wait'll I get to the next one at YOUR house! lol) And there were a few beers left over which I hastilly consumed after I got back from the TMS. Thanks guys, but don't let it happen again! (leaving all that beer! lol)

And the engine got pulled. There's still a few more parts left to salvage out of the dead 245.

The TMS event was great! Never had been on the oval track before, I was surprised it was as short as it is. 1 1/2 mi is pretty short even compared to a lot of the SCCA courses I've been on. It's hard to believe that the speeds can get up as high as they do for pro qualifying at TMS.
Too bad we could only get to ~100 mph or so. If it wasn't for that family of 4 in the Saturn ahead of us, we may have been able to keep up with the Porsche 911 Carrera and the Austin Martin DB9.

Thanks for hosting, Pete!! Was a lot of fun running on the track. Next fall, it is an imperative that we come up with the requisite number of people to qualify as a club so we aren't running with Saturns, Mini Coopers and Jag Van der Plas's with entire families on board "motoring" around the track. Seeing that Chrysler Caravan was a sad moment!!

Doing What I Want for a Long Time, AND nothing better to do
The only satisfaction I had was that one moment when we were able to accel out of turn 1 down the straight, and around turn 2 I looked in my rear view and could not see the Saab Aero wagon behind me (had not made it around turn 2) after we went down the straight into turn 1 again. :D

Doing What I Want for a Long Time, AND nothing better to do
Nick, some great shots!
Next time I'm going to bring the Nikon F with tele and set up a tripod at the corner so we can get some 'action' shots of us running on the track. (requires a non-participant with desire/ pic taking ability) Any volunteers?
I've got a bunch of really good top end equipemnt to do this.

My big dog will bite you. Take that to Kansas. lol

Yes, that one!

I have four cameras. One for the 1st corner, one for the back straight, one for taping to the front of the rear view mirror (video), and one for the crowd. If you want, I'll bring the 900 mm telescope, and you can count freckles, er tire tread. :ermm:
