In need of two big bottles of naws
Hey all, I just picked up an 80 GT about a month ago off of clist in houston. I'm still waiting on the paperwork (taking forever) before I can start building, but I figured I'd throw some photos up and meet some of you regulars. Car doesn't run yet... the last owner put it in storage, Ike happend, lost storage, and left it outside for 6 months. Missing several hoses and being as this is my first volvo... I'm reading a lot and going to probably bring it in to a volvo shop to limp it back together (get it running) before I put it under my own knife.

- Original 2.1 -- I'm very interested in 2.3 whiteblock+M90, unless some Volvo Guru gives me good reasoning to not do it.
- 4 on the floor with Elec OD.
- I want to upgrade brakes to Volvo R brakes.
- Car will be used for road racing :-D

great find, there's a bunch of rwd guys in town on from the northside that might be able to help you. the rest of us are willing to help too, but we're white block fwd guys so might not be able to help too much. if you're looking for a good shop to help you get it back into shape get in contact with mike @ southwest automotive. very reputable volvo shop and mike has a ton of experience especially with the red block cars.

Thanks for the info! Today the paperwork came in, so I can start putting in a little bit of money. I know this might sound stupid, but are there any Houston hang outs for car guys anymore? I grew up in Willow Brook and there used to be one up here, but the cops always busted it.

Willowbrook...on the northside? Im sure there are, but I usually don't head north. Theres meets on the SW and SE side that I know of. Saturday nights at the burlington coat factory parking lot at hwy 6. & westhiemer gets pretty heated. Same parking lot has a meet on wednesday also, but it's only maybe 50~ cars or so. I'm heading out there tonight to go pick on some ricers and if some GTO's or Pony cars decide they want to get hurt might join in I'll obilge them too

I found the meet at the Burlington Coat factory, but the cops busted it right when I showed up (11 pm). I heard that it's best to show up at about 9 or so.

After everyone left the Bfactory meet, I went to the Galleria starbucks to see if there was anything else... an S13 drift car was there (that was about it) and holy shit, the security guards there are pricks. After that I went to ARC where a bunch of stunt bikes go, but that was empty too (potential drift place btw). I guess this weekend was kind of slow for everyone.

This saturday was really bad, it got raided by a sting operation. About 10 dedicated officers from the constables office were out there including 1 high speed pursuit camaro. There was no chance for anybody to do anything out there. Hopefully next week is better, if you want to meet up PM me and I'll give you my number. To meet up, wednesday nights have been good to use for a while now, but I'm not sure if the sting op will spill over onto this wednesday. I'll still be out there tho.

Yeah, I'm a lame accountant, so I don't get to roam around on a weekday night that often. I'm surprised you guys will try and be there Sat on 4th of July -- the CRAZIES are usually out then. Are any of you going to the AutoX at Gulf Greyhound park? I'll be there Sunday.

Well, I brought the car to southwest auto a few weeks back and here are the problems:

$3312 in problems:

I need a harness - 700 bucks right there with labor.

Fuel system is "apparently" shot:
I need injectors, frequency valve, distributor rebuild, control pressure recirculator, cold start valve, my tank drained/welded/baked, all new filters -- as the remainder....

I talked to a few of my domestic mechanics and they were staying that was waaaaaay too high and I agree. I've figured I'd do all the work myself. When I get back from Cali in two weeks, I'm dropping off the tank and redoing the entire fuel system.

Any recs for replacement parts? I found Dave Barton's site for the harness (190 used ftw!)
