Thanks for all the advice. It turned out to be a wire harness that was not plugged in correctly, that the previous owner had messed up! Thanks guys!

timing? :dunno:

These motors are bad about breaking the crank gear and it lets the timing float.

Chris, Mike and I were fixing a b230 and lined the belt up probably 4 teeth off and it would almost run. We didn't realize our mistake until later.
...something's coming...

SHHHHH!!!

The best Volvo tech in the area (in my opinion) works at Park Place Volvo. At times he will look at stuff "away" from work. If you get the point that you need help that badly (it sounds like you are) I'll talk to him and see what it would cost to get him to take a look.

Will you be coming to our Christmas meet?

+1...Timing. Pull the oil cap and have someone crank the car. If the cam shaft isn't turning, the belt has broken. The other overlooked item is the FI fuse near the battery. If it craps out, you have a dead car.

You're lucky being in McKinney...VVPETE lives in Prosper, not too far away. He's a wealth of information.

Doing What I Want for a Long Time, AND nothing better to do
Fuel & spark and still not starting? sounds like a timing prob, and my first guess would be the crank sensor, but you replaced that. Unplug the AMM and see if it starts. A bad in-tank pump wouldn't cause this unless the tank is less than 1/2 full but I have a tool if you need to borrow one. Also if you have fuel at the fuel rail, probably not. The FI fuse on your car is in the fuse panel. Try spinning all the fuses to work off corrosion. Pretty common issue, I do it every 6 mos.
Is there any codes on the ecu/icu? Are the plugs fouled/wet right after cranking?

As mentioned, I am close by in Prosper give me a call 972-347-6101 and I'll see if I can stop by to take a look.
